Although the media's ability to shape events has diminished over the years (at least since 1988), they'll go to the mat to flesh out a story when their curiosity is aroused.
For example, if a Republican Senator is accused of using racial slurs, they'll dig out proof -- real or imagined. If a Republican candidate ever thought about spying on her philandering husband, we'll know that, too. On the eve of a presidential election we'll learn the Republican candidate had a decades old DUI charge. If they're curious about a President's National Guard service, fake documents to discredit him will surface. Even classified national security programs can be discovered and revealed to our enemies!
While they were never curious as to whether a Democrat President ever raped a former campaign supporter, or fondled a second in the Oval Orifice, or exposed himself to a third, they did finally admit he had improper relations with an intern -- after the blue stained dress came out of the closet.
Now, we have a new scandal, and new curiosities. Why did congressional pages save emails and Instant Messages from Congressman Foley? What path did those documents take to end up at ABC News? And why didn't ABC News -- a Disney company -- call authorities if underage pages were involved? Was the timing of the pre-election release a mere coincidence, or was a political party involved somehow?
So, will the media steer right by the truth again? We know the answer: we're curious about all this, but they're not.
Let's get back to the issues. Condemn Foley and his nastiness, point out the hypocrisy on the left about the entire issue and get back to the war on terror--"Pot belly dictator" with nukes-- Iran-- and just plain pushing Conservatism in America. Sound good? Good. :)

And I agree.
yes, Republicans made a mess of this too...
Brando was just pointing out that the media has been dealing with things pretty two-faced.
Precisely.
Shatnermosism, thanks for your response. Please indulge me for a moment.
oh come on. You went JUST short of saying it's all the democrats fault.
That in itself is an unfair statement. If you do however feel that my bashing the media is somehow bashing Democrats, I would have to disagree.
To be fair, I agree with lots of what you said. Everyone should be held accountable for actions like this, republican or democrat. But to suggest that the press didn't care about the Clinton sex scandals is just plain crazy. And also to equate having sexually explicit conversations with minors, and what Foley did, is also quite crazy.
You missed the point of me pointing out hypocrisy. And common, I was a young’n during the Clinton scandal and can still recall the little press it got in the mainstream. Anyone can admit that. They did the best they could to let Black Hawk Down cover it up. Right?
What? This paragraph basically says "Hey! I bet Democrats were behind this! Oh! And MAYBE they are even responsible for the pages saving Instant Message Conversations!"
I was simply pointing out that the media could possibly have a “side” or certain intentions. And how the timing of all this is quite predictable. Not supporting the actions of the scum.
What truth is this exactly? All I see is a Republic Congressman who's key issue was making it harder for online sexual preditors, who liked to do sleezy things to his underage pages online. But your right.. I'm sure this is the democrats and media's fault.
Again, I am not in anyway on Foley’s side. But do you not question the timing of this at all? Do you not ask why the D’s or the R’s that knew of this didn’t report this when it happened and instead waited until October, a month before mid-term elections? I would hope that would at least cross your mind and you could at least see where I was coming from with this. Hopefully you will now if you didn’t before. You seemed to purposefully dodge my point in trying to point out so-called partisanship on my side.
