Today we'll be looking at the events of Sept. 11, 2001 and how they were able to happen. After researching only moderately, it was easy to come to the conclusion that the events were not planned by our government, and as far as procedure, nothing went wrong. I didn't stop at only moderately researching this, though, but further looking into the matter only reaffirms what was already plain to see.
First of all, I'd like to site my sources because a majority of the conclusions come from them and one in particular is worth reading. An article by Popular Mechanics involving more than 300 experts, contacts, and organizations (which are fully documented in the article), looks at the 16 most common theories floating around for a conspiracy and debunks all of them. The movie "United 93"
My experience in military aviation.
A few points brought up in these articles I can verify without a shadow of a doubt. First I'll justify my experience. My Marine Corps occupational specialty is 5954, and in my unit are also 5953s, 5952s, and various 7200 field air traffic controllers. We are an air traffic control detachment of less than 100 marines. We only have two types of marines in the unit; air traffic controllers and maintenance personnel to setup and fix the gear the controllers use. If you are interested to see how the events rolled out that day, a good resource is the movie "United 93." When watching the movie, there may seem to be a lot of confusion as far as leadership, but I can assure you that even in the movie, everything was done by the book and in a highly professional manner. Air traffic controllers are payed a decent amount of money for their skills. They are highly decisive, well pronounced and almost flawless in their work. (what other profession can claim this?) Any air traffic controller with any sort of glitch on his record will never be able to find a job. FAA rules are too strict on that. So the men that are on the job are those that are the cream of the crop, especially at the FAA control substations, where all traffic is monitored for different regions, as these are similar to a headquarters position. I have no doubt in the leadership in either the FAA or military leadership for ATC. As far as one of these men knowing prior of the events is inconceivable, because it would take a very large amount of people in the community to make any kind of deception. There are too many eyes watching constantly to get away with even the slightest purposeful lie. Nothing was done wrong in the way of procedure, either. Prior to that date, there was no set procedure for what happened. I'm actually surprised things happened as quickly as they did, except for the response time of fighter jets. I was unaware we had so few available at any one second. I'm sure the events drastically changed that for NORAD, though. An effective plan could not have been conceived prior to this. We learn from mistakes and adjust accordingly. It's nearly impossible to be effectively prepared for any circumstance, especially without it ever happening before.
One small comment. If my barracks windows have shatter protection, wouldn't it make sense that the Pentagon windows, portholes to the hub of military intelligence, would be just as protected if not 10x more? Really, c'mon. One theory bases its assumptions that the Pentagon was hit with a missile or small plane on the fact that many windows directly surrounding the crash section didn't break. I should hope the Pentagon would be hard to infiltrate.

I'm interested to see the ticker graphs for United before and after and where you got them from, because we all know stocks shift up and down, often dramatically even on a daily basis. If I were to see a trend of high selling up to a week before that is inconsistent with it's normal course for that last month, then there would be reason to speculate.
I'm also interested to see where you got your information on what the military was exactly doing that day. Keep in mind running simulations like that is NORAD's purpose.
If you haven't read that first article I listed, I highly recommend you do. I'd also like to hear about what you think you know about the insurance issue.
The situation is covered in ATC training and was correctly done all the way until the top. The only thing there was trouble with was contacting the President in time. Had they known the time box that was available, they could've quit trying and gone straight to the VP, but they didn't. The time between the actual hijacking and the crash was way too short of a time for reaction. Even if the president could have been contacted, he would have been scrutinized for whatever position he took (shoot it down or let it go) because there was no contact with the planes. It could've been a simple malfunction of the comm equipment and the pilot was trying to land to get it repaired. Now what would have happened if he ordered it shot down? That's a tough decision even in hindsight to make. And remember, this is all in hindsight. Given the circumstances, what was known, and procedures, nothing could've been done better minus contacting the president in a timely manner. (Maybe not even that, because I'm not sure the reasons and no one ever will since it's classified.)
Well thanks for not outright disagreeing with me. I'm not harping, I'm just curious as to these other theories you have. (So I can shoot 'em down ;) )
There is a lot of evidence that suggests that poeple in our government knew about or possibly planned what took place on 9/11.
Is it hard to believe? Yes. I used to think that anyone who thought that anything other then the official story was crazy. But then after much research, and looking into the activities of our government, I think there is ample evidence for at least the 9/11 case to be reopened and examimned.
