The Split...

...in conservative talk radio.

Average person: “Huh? The split in talk radio? There is a split in Conservative talk radio? This is a worthy topic of discussion?”

To me…it is, and it is something that as of late is something that gives me great concern.

I am a politically junky. I love it. Guess that explains my attitude about life as of late or the obviously somber attitude my co-workers at work ask about (or some even seem quite disturbed about, why they give a crap I don’t know and don’t care).

But back to the topic of discussion. That split. You may ask, how is there a split in conservative/racist/bigot/closed-minded hateful radio? And if there is why should I care anyways?

I’ll tell you. Back to that whole “political junky” thing. Without exposing too many details about my personal life that would put you in a state of pure boredom you probably wouldn’t recover from… I’ll just tell you quickly.

-I get up in the morning, coffee… STRONG motor oil like coffee.

-Than three hours of Glenn Beck. In my mind the more balanced of the top 5 hosts. He takes it to both sides but still has hope in the country even though nothing but weasels run things in Washington.

-Sometimes I’ll tune into Limbaugh on Fridays (off day) just to see what the “Bushbot” has to say and if there is a gleam of hope on a conservative “break through” for the man. I mean it would be nice…that would be a good what 20 million that would come into my area of the spectrum…(going with the Rush haters saying his listeners are mind numb robots that go with every command he gives! COMRADE!) Anywho…

-At work I’ll tune into Michael Savage. Now this is one “ballsy” bastard. A.D.D. moment- One thing that gets on my nerves is when Beck, starts off his show damn near on a daily basis at the beginning of each hour. And says; “…this is the third most listened to show in all of America…” Savage is the 3rd most listened (in millions). But ahh well, just another example of the split and ignoring Mr. Savage... they all ignore Savage. Only until recently when C.A.I.R. (The Council on American-Islamic Relations) Another A.D.D. moment-oh and you would think…AFTER 9/11 we would at least keep our eye out on groups like this? No? -- Has had a problem with some of the things Savage has said. Only of course AFTER they took him completely out of context, stole his copyrighted material from his show, spliced and diced it all together and then tossed it on their website to raise money from gullible folks who buy into things way too easily. How nice of them! This will backfire on them just like with Media Matters and Harry Reid vs. Rush… sure backfired. The letter went for $4.4 million on ebay if I am not mistaken.

So Savage (I don’t blame him) has decided to sue this terrorist front group (just do your research on C.A.I.R. before you say I am just a xenophobic right wing hater please…spare me) for stealing copyrighted material from his show without permission and in doing so also trying to take down his career by their efforts to get his advertisers to pull away from his program. (Some cowardly advertisers have and by God I hope their companies go down) That just makes me friggin sick. Yes I just wrote friggin. Pro Muslim comments/callers/transcripts by Savage over the years.

Average person/reader who made it this far into the post again: “What does this have to do with anything brando? What about the split?”

I’ll make this as fast as possible.

First lets name the top talk show hosts:

Just for your info:

Let’s start with the most listened to show in the country, and we’ll go from there. (I am going to be sexist and not talk about the women, since the majority of talk radio listeners and hosts are men). To be honest I’ll only comment on the ones I listen to, since it would be irresponsible to comment on those I never have listened to.

Rush: Agrees with Bush on damn near everything. RARELY mentions the problems with the border and illegal immigration. After the ’06 elections he said; (and I remember listening to the show and thinking FINALLY!) “I am done carrying the water for the Republicans.” My thought later on when I noticed he continued on carrying the water was -- Why carry the water in the first place Mr. Limbaugh? “Half your brain tied behind your back, just to make it fair”? Untie that brain and insert where it should be… and maybe you will realize that YOU NEVER STOPPED CARRYING THE WATER. You say you’re Conservative yet NEVER seem to mention that Bush is now a bigger spender than L.B.J. (Conservatives, this isn’t a good thing.)

Limbaugh always mentions “the lowest poll numbers for Congress in history” yet doesn’t mention that they are lower than the Presidents. That is not good news for America by the way… when Congress and the President can barely get any support. Yet the top “dawg” in radio, who is Republican first Conservative on only a few things, acts as though it’s the greatest news since Germany surrendered.

As you can tell I am a bit frustrated with Limbaugh. Such a vast audience and opportunity on a daily basis to seriously push his points of view (if really conservative) yet he goes the way of the dodo bird/republican way of doing things. Not Conservative. Just like the Republicans did before the ’06 elections…thus the turnout. Hell Limbaugh was probably one of the ONLY hosts in America that was for the Dubai ports deal. To Rush’s credit he has said Bush is not a Conservative leader like Reagan was… he is not leading a Conservative movement like Reagan did. He is only Conservative on certain issues. (No, really Rush?) I honestly can’t name one thing he is Conservative on… if I can it’s dismissed or so overweighed by all his liberal slanted policies.

Hannity: My Father in Heaven, what is there to say about this man? He honestly didn’t stop carrying the water for Republicans and doesn’t mind doing so... just like Limbaugh—“Democrats are the devil, Republicans were sent from Heaven in a manger.” It’s sickening. He had the right stance on the Dubai ports deal, yet…hell I think I am too frustrated to talk about him and at the same time wonder why he is #2 in millions of listeners. BE A CONSERVATIVE! LIVE IT! Than maybe we’ll be able to get something done in Washington and not always fight back and forth while the tax dollars continue to roll on in. They fight and fight (it’s a show for us) and then spend and spend. Good job folks. Hannity also seems to be full fledged on board with Guliani. Conservatism anyone? Is it available on Hannity's microphone?

Michael Savage: Along with Glenn Beck, is my favorite host to be honest. His shows open with: “Warning: The Michael Savage show contains adult language, adult content, psychological nudity. Listener discretion is advised.” Gotta love that even if you hate the guy. At least he tells you upfront… “hey I warned you.” You can listen to his show and draw your own opinion/conclusion on him all you want. Or you can wikipedia all the talk radio guys and read what others have made up about him or taken him out of context or just plain hate the man. (C.A.I.R. should hire the nuts) His stance is simple.

Borders. Language. Culture. In order to survive we must maintain the three. It’s one thing to be a melting pot, but another to allow millions of illegals flood the country even after 9/11, KNOWING that there are fanatics that have hijacked a religion and want to cut your head off if you do not convert to their religion. They don’t give a damn if you’re an R or a D or an I. THEY DON’T CARE. Could they not slip through the open borders? Do you care? Are you a comfortable American that says; “That couldn’t happen here.”

I could go on all day for sure on Michael…but for anyone (I don’t care if it is only a few friends) that made it this far into this rant… I thank you. Refute me all you want, disagree. That is what this is all about!

Finally…

Glenn Beck: “The Fusion of entertainment and enlightenment”

Great entertaining show. Great Conservative views. Currently a #1 New York Times bestseller with “An Inconvenient Book”. Has a show on CNN Headline news (fastest growing cable news show). For the most part his views match up with Savage, just not as blunt with his presentation. He is a Mormon and said his faith and religion make us better and stronger… as long as your religion doesn’t teach you to kill other people that disagree with you of course. BTW: He said if he was to vote for Mitt Romney just because he was Mormon than he is a Moron. Just like you would be a Moron to say you wouldn’t vote for Mitt just on the basis that he is a Mormon.

Why did the kid go into the mall and shoot and kill other people? Because our society puts so much importance it seems on fame and money and living in the now… and not being a decent human being to others. Being a better person today than you were yesterday. You won’t always be able to do it. But the effort and knowing it…is helpful too.

Back to the split…

What am I getting to? Conservatives need to stick together. Liberals need to stick together. But for the most part Americans need to stick together. (Especially at such a crucial time in our history.)

To say we are more split than ever is an understatement. Look at the debates. What a joke on both sides. A.D.D. moment- When are we going to get to the point where there are not 15 people on the stage all battling, slobbering, spilling out the same old junk? I’ll answer that…never. And if it does happen…we’ll be like we already are-- so fed up with it, we won’t care. And we’ll end up getting a “nobody” in office for four years. (Nobody as in our current choices-on both sides-At least not one that has risen up, shows they have what it takes and has the “fire in the belly” in order to lead us in this important time.)

I have got to tell you. For the short small amount of time after 9/11 where we were united. We were not Republicans/Democrats/Conservatives/Liberals/Independents/Libertarians/or just plain nutty people. We were AMERICANS. Yet before you knew it…we were back to left versus right. You wrong and I am right but wait…you’re on the left so I am right and right always. Blah blah.

WE MUST UNITE! There is no question about that. The top four who have split down the middle: RUSH/Hannity vs. Beck/Savage it seems with the size of their audiences (counting all top five hosts not just ones I mentioned above) -- give or take a couple million (considering some may be like me and listen throughout the whole day) You’re looking at at least 50 million people. Think about it. Bush got 62,040,610 votes. Kerry got 59,028,11. The most individual votes cast for anyone in history, though John Kerry's 59 million votes ranked second in that category as well.

You can’t tell me talk radio doesn’t have an impact with the size and power of their audiences. So if they all call themselves Conservatives. Don’t go along just party lines. Pick the Conservative that will bring us all back together. That will tell us of the “Morning in America” like Reagan did. Winning two landslides elections. Disagree with Reagan or not the man brought America together. In 1980 he carried 44 states… including California, New York, Illinois. (He was a Republican, keep that in mind.) In 1984 he carried 49 states. Mondale could only carry DC and Minnesota.

That is uniting America!

I love the United States of America. I love this country. I have hope in this country. I have hope that Conservatives will unite in talk radio, hell, in the country as a whole. Don’t compromise on the values and views you proclaim
/push …and we will unite and this country will be whole again. How could we lose to our enemies?

Happy Monday! :)
